Self-Catering House

Single house unit for shirt term rental for up to 21 day. This may be a renovated house, an old farm building for development. Houses contain a kitchen/ livingroom, bathroom, bedrooms. The house will have a power supply, sewage link up and bathroom. The requirements of a normal houses from power supply and sewage are required for the house.

Farm Buildings

Old Farm Buildings can be renovated to be short term rental accommodation, and can often be used as the focus of the site with other accommodation around it. Grants can be accessed to renovate old buildings or renovate a barn to allow for self-catering. It may be cheeper to place units within the original structure.

Groups of Houses or Short-term rental units

In Ireland there were schemes of houses built in coastal areas, on golf courses aimed at specific markets. Many of these were sold off, and now there is a need to re-build the tourism accommodation infrastructure.

Timber Framed Chalets

chalets with multiple rooms can be place on site by specific companies with kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom making the most of the space. Can be used for those with wheelchair needs.

Shepards Hut

These huts may be on wheels, but normally have a power supply, toilet and shower. Cooking facilities are normally outdoors

Cabins and tiny houses

Cabins ready to rent can be dropped on site for you, making this an easy option. Sewage, power and water services need to be on the site before the cabins are dropped, often in more remote sites.

Glamping

Glamping is a way to holiday with family or friends in pods or purpose built units, and have all facilities provided on site. It is like camping, without having to bring and put up the tent. Since 2007 Glamping has increased greatly in popularity and options in England and northern Ireland. In south of Ireland such developments have not increased at the same rate, due to a lack of clarity on planning. This is now being sorted

Tents or Yurts

Canvas Tents or Round Yurts or Domes set up with luxury and style. The canvas or plastic pods on a frame are usually re open plan with a stove to keep the space warm. These need to be taken down and stored in winter months - so a barn and labour is needed to manage each season.

Camper Vans

Space for Camper vans to park for a night can be part of your plan, with facilities for these provided on site. EV changing will be required for the most modern Camper vans. Each unit will need space, designated for parking with facilities toilet, showering and washing facilities provided.

Eco Pods

A modern style of glamping with various sizes of pods, with bed, bathrooms and small cooking space in each. They are often built in groups of 5-6 units. Pods come pre-built to a site with services in place. They are then fitted out with furnishings. Solar panels can be used as part of the heating for the pods.

Tree House

Tree houses can be built on site in the tree-tops with ladder access. These provide unique glamping experiences, and may have toilets, showers and hot tubs, as well as great views. Pre-build units are also available.

Tepee

These are not used much in IReland as they tend to blow over in the wind. The traditional Native American Indian tent with a wide base, and a peak at the top can be quite tall, but may work on some more protected sites.

Added Facilities on Site

These facilities will make the site more appealing to those booking and also more comfortable for all those staying there. Clear rules on use of the site will mean there is no room for confusion. IF you have a rule that no groups are allowed and a hen party arrives, then its there fault for not being clear on the intention. Clarity means there is no confusion.

A reception area where people sign in, get guidelines for the use of the site and the area make management of the site easier to manage.

Hot Tub

A Hot tub attracts a lot of customers to a site, and can be organised with a booking system for a time allocation for each party who wants to use on a day. This allows for multiple parties to enjoy the facilities .

Sauna

Saunas can attract a lot of customers to the site, and can be booked serpeatly or with the hot tub

Noise control

Noise control on a site is essential so that no group causes others to loose sleep. If you have multiple units then families with younger children can be placed on one area of the site, so they can go to bed earlier.

Activity Provider

The theme of the site is important to choosing the types of activity you offer.
Outdoor orientated sites can offer bike hire, fishing, kayaking or other services directly or with local providers.
Wellness and relaxation sites can offer yoga, nature walks, forest bathing and many other wellness themed activity.

Shop

This can be a retail shop attached to the reception area or a self-service shop with vending machines.
